    PRUTAH, YEAR 3, (Copper, 3.17 grams, 16.44 mm).
    Obverse: Narrow-necked amphora with Hebrew legend around: year 3.
    Reverse: Vine-branch with one leaf

    In AD 65/66, after years of insults and oppression by Roman prefects and procurators, the Jews, a very small and divided nation, revolted and routed the Roman garrisons stationed in Jerusalem and around it.
    The 12th Legion sent from Syria to pacify the Province was repelled.
    At this time the Emperor Nero sent Vespasian, one of his best Generals to crush the Revolt. Vespasian succeeded to the throne when Nero died. Vespasian was then proclaimed Emperor by the Eastern troops and returned to Rome. Vespasian, new Emperor, sent his son Titus to finish the War. After a long resistance by the jews, Jerusalem fell in AD 70 and the Temple was burnt to the ground
