1979 SCHLITZ BEER SALUTES MARDI GRAS Plain Aluminum Doubloon

Here's the
1979 Schlitz Beer Plain Aluminum Doubloon
.
The doubloon
measures 39 mm or 1 1/2" in diameter and is in
Excellent Condition.
Note:  The obverse features Schlitz Logo
.  The reverse features an Intricate and Festive Design and the Schlitz Logo and reads "SCHLITZ SALUTES MARDI GRAS...'79."
In order to promote Schlitz Beer during the Carnival Season in New Orleans, the Schlitz Distributors had these Aluminum doubloons made.  They were given to Bar Owners who in turn gave them to their customers.  And, Members of Various Krewes and Carnival Clubs and the Distributors Employees who rode in Various Parades, would throw the doubloons to eager parade spectators. These Schlitz Beer Doubloons were issued from 1972 through 1983.
From 1972 through 1978, Schlitz issued a Plain Aluminum and a Colored (Anodized) Aluminum Doubloon.  However, in 1979, 1981, 1982 and 1983, they issued only a Plain Aluminum Doubloon.  Payment due within 48 hours of purchase.  Great Piece of Schlitz and Mardi Gras Memorabilia.
